So i played hooky from work on Friday to get some work done on my car and to finally FINALLY take my driver’s test and I PASSED. Yes Los Angeles, you have another road rage-aholic out there. To celebrate… the lovely 118 freeway ripped the treading off of one of my back tires on my way home last night. Guess that shows me from giving a friend a ride home out of the way, lol. Oh well..thankfully the roads were clear and my little one and I made it home.
Friday night I got some much needed Zzzz’s and Saturday was spent errand running and getting driven crazy by my nearly 3 yr old daughter. She decided not to nap and then was a grouch and a terror all day. Yay fun. Once it was bedtime though, she knocked out 1 hr early and was out in less than 5 mins. I asked her dad to babysit, and my friend Ro and I went out for a few drinks.
First we went to Big Wangs. I had frequented the location in Hollywood but this was the first I tried the NoHo location. WAYYYY cleaner than the Hollywood one, and much MUCH friendlier. they had an awesome Saturday night happy hour going on… $3 Coronas, $4 well, and $5 call drinks. Ro and I were pretty broke so we were very happy. For $2 extra, they made your drink into a double. 2 double rum and cokes, and an empty stomach…I was feeling pretty good…not drunk but that happy, warm fuzzy stage. We hung out with a couple friends of hers for a bit, they ventured a few blocks south to Skinny’s. A fun local spot, with a dance floor (which let’s face it…as chicks- we drink- we gotta dance, it’s a rule) in NoHo as well.
Now here’s where it gets fun- on the drive down to Skinny’s, you know the whole like 3-4 blocks, I stopped at a stop light and this really cute guy is next to me. Ro and I both agree he’s good looking and he turns…pops a huge smile and asks us to have drinks. So we tell him we’re heading to Skinny’s and he follows us. He actually turns out to be a this really nice, funny, smart (doctor…hello!) guy. He buys all our drinks but also a couple shots of tequila…and let me just say… tequila and empty stomachs aren’t a happy combo. I spent 2-315am recalling some 21 yr old days of puking on a sidestreet. Man…I suck. But he was a doctor and didn’t care, lol. We did exchange numbers so we shall see I guess.
Sunday, thankfully S and her dad played and ate breakfast all without me as I was in hangover hell til about noon. She took a nap, I showered and prepared to be surrounded by about fifteen kids under the age of 5. Yup…another birthday party. This one for my friend Pris’s little boy Jason, who turned 3. Yes, Pris and I are also planning our children’s wedding like 25 yrs from now. Haha. We had lots of fun at the pool party and although I looked like hell…I amazingly was ok with all the running and yelling around. Then I agreed to give my friend Laura a ride home, which I don’t mind, but then my tire fiasco happened on my way home.
Got home, fed the little one, put her to bed and I caught up with Hung, Entourage, Drop Dead Diva and True Blood. I love my shows. Can’t wait for Sept when Glee and Dexter return! Or next month with Weeds and the new show called The Big “C”. I love Laura Linney so I have high hopes for that one.
So yes, it is Monday…I have work to catch up on…so I must bid you adieu.
