This Veggie-version of the holiday classic The Little Drummer Boy starts out sad and scary, which at first concerned me as it’s geared for small children. But soon Junior Asparagus, as The Little Drummer Boy, and his other veggie pals come alive with singing, joking and dancing, and my kids can not keep still with talking veggies! They had a blast!
I’ve never seen a Veggie Tales movie before! *gasp* And what a great introduction to the series this is! To transform vegetables into lovable characters that tell a very deep and spiritual lesson that young children can relate to is brilliant! I have three children under 5 and each one could relate to the movie on a different level.
My five-year-old asked questions about Junior Asparagus and how he learned to forgive. My three-year-old loves to dance and was up moving around with the bonus feature of Sing Along Songs, and little did she know the lessons she was singing! My one-year-old was mesmerized by talking veggies, especially Junior Asparagus’s Grandpa, Pa Grape. I enjoyed the funny references to Star Wars that my kids had no idea why I was laughing!
So, yes, it’s a movie for the WHOLE family!
I would wrap this up and add some drum sticks with it as a gift pack. The DVD includes instructions on how kids can make their own set of drums, which makes a fun extension to the movie!

I love the Veggie Tales movies
The veggie tales are one of my favorite for my son. Some of the cartoons out for children these days are just so grown up and have things in them I don’t agree with. This is cute and educational. Love it!
