Now that summer has his Los Angeles, our little one has not wanted to come indoors. But my front patio area looked kinda sad…
So we decided to make some quick improvements. We started with one item and next month, we’ll be doing just a tad more. This month, because our daughter LOVES to swing, we decided to build her a swing. A real life tree swing. We got the idea from a Lowe’s Creative Ideas Flyer that came to our house. Sofia saw it and she went nuts. So of course, Daddy decided it just had to be done. So off we went and bought all our supplies from Lowe’s and got to work.
- 2″ x 10″ x 8′ board, #46664 (about $9)
- 46′ of 3/4″ twisted polypropylene rope, #349194 (cost us about $23 for amount needed)
- 2 snap links, #348290
- 2-1/2″ deck screws
- Handsaw or miter saw (optional)
- Drill with a 1″ bit
- Utility knife
- Sander and 120-grit sandpaper
- Matches or lighter
Rather than give you re-written directions, I am just gonna send you to the directions on Lowe’s site which you can find here. Here is what we did:
…and then we hung it using the knots suggested and a ladder and we got…Ta-da!
But the real test would be whether or not it got the princess’s seal of approval. So we asked her to take a swing and let us know what she thinks.
Yea.. I think we passed.
