When I was growing up, computers were a rare thing. I remember being the one girl that knew how to program the class’s AppleIIc computer and the only kid that was allowed free time because I also performed the back up (via 100 floppy discs) every day near dismissal. Can you tell I was cool?
Fast forward to 2002 when I bought my very first computer. I was pretty dumb when it came to what I should have been doing to keep my computer running well. One day, I logged in and my computer kept rebooting itself. freaked. I had to scramble and read tech sites for hours (kinda hard to do when your computer keeps shutting down) and figure out how to do it myself. It was a major pain in the you know what and I was super stressed for DAYS trying a bazillion different things (and there may have been some chanting to the tech gods) just hoping my computer would love me again.
How I wish the Geek Squad had been around back then.

One of the reasons I have been behind on like, everything is one of my computers needs help. It happens to be the one that has ALL my photos on. So I have had to turn my travel laptop, into my daily laptop, and this one had nothing installed or equipped on it. But I needed something and put it to work immediately.
It wasn’t that something was wrong…it was little things, like it shut down once by itself and the lag times in opening programs. Also, I had like zero anti-virus on this yet I was always online- in airports, hotels, name it, I used it there. I had a little time and logged on to my Geek Squad account to give it a whirl. It took about 2 minutes to be connected to an agent online. He asked some questions, and I asked questions and he advised me to bring in my other laptop, but wanted to run diagnostics and updates on this one so that I could have it run better. He said to just go about my day, and I should have my laptop back for my use in a couple hours.
But being super nosy (ok ok, and freaked that someone I didn’t know was accessing my computer’s inner workings), I stuck around and watched. It was pretty cool.
I watched as the agent was remotely running tests and updating things I hadn’t even thought to touch. He also uninstalled a few things and ran a few other scans. I decided to take my daughter to the park for a bit, and when I came back…there it was, my laptop just sitting there waiting for me to play with again.
It run so smoothly and a bit quicker than I remembered. The best part about it? I’m convinced…everyone should have a Geek in their life. Check out the services they offer and sign up today, your computer will thank you.

I was the only girl in our school’s computer club, haha! I also ran I BBS..talk about geeky
thankfully now I’m married to a geek who knows more than I do.
The Geek Squad sounds promising. I dislike when my computer gives me problems. Sounds like they did a good job with your computer.
I have a laptop at home which I don’t use ’cause it needs to be updated and would love to use it again. Maybe I would take it to the Geek Squad and they can put back to life again
I love geeks! Geeks rule the world, my hubby is the biggest nerd Ive met..swoon. loool
I am glad Geek Squad is there. I have some old voice recordings of my late daughter on an old computer. Geek Squad said they could get her messages off the old computer for me. As soon as I have a few extra bucks, I’m on it.
