The name Disney has long been associated with the words creative and imagination, but until now, most of our interaction with some of our beloved Disney character has been limited to what we see on a movie screen. Even every game that has come from those games have been limited to the imagineers creations. Disney Infinity, the soon to be released interactive game sets from Disney Interactive, is about to change everything.
Disney Infinity, is just as the name says it is, everything Disney and the limits are infinite. What starts as typical game play with toys (i.e. Skylanders), Disney has added it’s magical touch and taken everything 10 steps forward. Imagine if you will, the TRON race settings, but jetting away with Buzz Lightyear or Mr. Incredible. Or battling pirates with Jack Sparrow alongside Sully and Phineas and Ferb? If you can think it, you can probably make it happen with Disney Infinty.
When the game is released in June 2013, it will be sold in starter packs (price point $74.99)which will include Sully, Mr. Incredible and Jack Sparrow, as well as additional toys in additional play sets.
Play modes will be in “Play Sets” where each character stays within their own “world”. The way that Disney Infinity has set itself apart is by also having a “Toy Box” play mode, which is essentially how COO John Lassiter first began to conceive Infinity, as he was working on a Toy Story game and thinking about Andy’s Toy Box. In Toy Box play, only your imagination is the limit. You can bring several toys into the game, which could be any scenerio of your choosing. You will be able to create your own “world” and upload it to an online community, and play interactively with other Disney Infinity users.
Disney Infinity will be sold across all gamiling systems incuding: Xbox, Wii, Wii U, PC, PS3, mobile and more. Prices will begin at $34.99 for Play Set packs and $74.99 for Toy Box sets and is set to make it’s US debut June 2013.
