This post has been brought to you by Hallmark.
When my daughter started this school year, she was nervous. While her kinder year had gone OK, I know we had issues with her teacher. I crossed my fingers that this year would be different…and it was. This year, my daughter got a great teacher…one that got her excited to learn and made going to school fun. She gave Sofia her first favorite book character, a curiosity about science and math, and made her realize that learning is actually fun. You guys, my baby went from hating reading a sentence to finishing chapter books BY HERSELF. I’ll never be able to thank her teacher for what she gave my girl, I feel that in my heart but I wanted to show her a tiny token of our appreciation. When I asked Sofia to go shopping with me for a gift for her teacher, she smiled so big and started planning for the perfect gift.
We headed to our local mall where there was a Hallmark store. I knew we’d find something there, and to be honest, I also wanted to find something for my husband and I knew I could pick up both gifts and cards here.
The selection of items was fabulous. From traditional teacher’s gifts like coffee mugs and calendars, to fun cute gifts like Disney figures, we had plenty of items to choose from. Since I wanted it to be from Sofia, I let her roam and pick out items she thought would make a great gift for her teacher…and wow, did she ever pick a great gift.
The Cat in the Hat was one of the first books her teacher read to her that year, and it’s been a main stay for Sofia ever since. Her bookshelf is full of Dr.Seuss books now and she marvels at the words and characters. It was only fitting that this would be her choice.
I picked out the card (and a gift for my husband…but I can’t show that yet!)…a very cute and sweet Thank You card, which Sofia wrote her message in.
Teachers do so much for our kids…they can make or break their love of learning and furthering their education. Showing your appreciation, even with a simple card or gift is the smallest way to say Thank You.
