Birthdays are always special, but there’s something magical about spending it at The Happiest Place on Earth. Every year, on Sofia’s birthday, we let her stay home from school and she gets to pick what we do for her special day. This year, she wanted to make it extra special, and so did we. Ever since her bestie got a Bibbity Bobbity Boutique makeover at Disney Social Media Moms, she’s been obsessed over it and when she asked us to get one for her birthday, we said yes.
The day started early, cause she was way excited and jumped on us in the morning and yelled “IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!! I’m SEVVVEEEENNN!!” We did some errand running and Disneyland packing and headed out around 11am. We had an appointment at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique and rushed over….right after I picked up her Annual Pass! We decided it would be the perfect gift since she goes with her cousins so often, so I bought it at home before we left. She was floored! We mentioned her birthday in passing to the cast members at the gate, and the promptly grabbed a Birthday button for her.
The walk from the main entrance to the castle was just the first steps to a magic filled birthday. Everyone stopped and wished her a Happy Birthday. The cast members were all very sweet to her. But the boutique… oh the boutique…that place is just pixie dust all around!
We went with the crown package, and added on a dress and tiara. Ariel and Elsa are Sofia’s favorite princesses, but since we had the Elsa dress at home….she chose the gorgeous Ariel gown that is ONLY available at the Disneyland Resort. They dressed her first, and the began princess pampering. Hair…makeup…nails….glitter and gifts…and that was not all. Her “fairy godmother” also blinged up her birthday button and added it to a very special birthday sash. The whole time, Sofia couldn’t see herself because they hide a mirror behind a curtain so that when she is done, they unveil the princess.
Yea… you could say she was excited…and that she really really enjoyed being a princess.
Throughout the day, cast members would say “Happy Birthday Princess Sofia!” with a bow or curtsy. My girl was a princess in a land of magic! She kept telling us how happy she was and I can’t even count how many times she said thank you. It really made my heart explode to see her so happy on her special day.
Let me tell you… the characters? They outdid themselves. They would dance with her…pretend to faint from her beauty… and Goofy got so excited, he fell over before dancing with her.
From the Soundsational parade float, any character that saw her blew her a kiss, winked at her or something to acknowledge her. Cinderella though? From her place on the princess float, called out “Happy Birthday princess!” just as they were passing us. That was it… Sofia officially had the best birthday ever.
When we headed home, I knew we got a chance to give her something she would remember for the rest of her life. Disneyland is always amazing. It has been for me for 35 years so far! Having a birthday where everyone treats you like royalty? That’s the things Pixie Dust is made of.
Thanks to Disneyland for providing the media passes for us grown ups!!
