A few weeks ago, I was invited to see the movie The Maze Runner and did not know what to expect because I didn’t know that it was a book series. I honestly thought it was just another teen movie. But I was proven wrong.
There are three words to describe this movie: intense, creative … and running. The scenes in the maze were so crazy you would swear that all these kids got sprinting lessons from Tom Cruise because they really pulled the running off. There were plenty of stunts and dramatic moments that kept me on the edge of my seat that left me wondering will they make out of the maze?
The movie starts off with Thomas (played by Dylan O’Brien who you may have seen in the show Teen Wolf) now stuck in the maze with no memory of how he got there. He’s greeted by his fellow survivors and starts trying to figure out how he can get out of the maze. The only vague memory he has of the outside world comes in the form of strange dreams about a mysterious company known as W.C.K.D. Only by putting together fragments of his past and dreams with clues he discovers in the maze can he uncover his true purpose and a way to escape. Sounds intense, right? Think about it. A maze with no way out? No memory of who you were? Your parents? None of the boys remember any of this. I can’t imagine not being able to recall the last 14 years of my life. The film is great when it comes to suspense. The acting was really good too.
The Maze Runner stars Dylan O’Brien, Aml Ameen, Ki Hong Lee, and Will Poulter. I was very shocked to see Will Poulter in a serious role because I’m used to seeing him in We’re the Millers. His character in that film was very dorky and nerdy. In The Maze Runner, he played a tough guy who is very intelligent and intriguing. And Ki Hong Lee is a really great actor. I could feel his struggle as he tried to figure a way out of the maze.
I normally dislike teen movies because of the cheesy love stories, but this movie didn’t have love component at all. I like seeing teens use their brain and use strategies to to break free from challenges. The Maze Runner is a fun movie and I guarantee you will not feel like you’re watching Twilight. All of the actors really impressed me and after watching this I think Dylan O’Brien should play Desmond Miles in Assassins Creed to Michael Fassbenders Altair.
In case you didn’t know, I actually got to meet the cast. They’re all super cool and engaging in person and shared a lot things about themselves with us all. Here are 5 Things You Didn’t Know About The Maze Runner Cast.
What book would you like to see turned into a movie? I think they should re-do “And Then There Were None” with Benedict Cumberbatch narrating the story because I want to hear him narrate the movie and read The Ten Little Indians poem. What are your thoughts?
