We are so happy to announce that Sassy Mama in L.A. is now part of the Netflix #StreamTeam! As a member of Netflix’s Stream Team, we can share entertaining titles that fit different themes every month! October is all about celebrating “firsts” and they have a cool list of movies that you can plan a family movie night around to revel in these achievements.
Milestones are few and far in between for adults but kids experience a slew of “mini milestones” along with major ones from the minute they are born! What’s rewarding for a parent is reliving milestones through their children’s eyes and sharing all of the exciting moments with them.
Here are 5 movies that you can stream with your family to celebrate a first!
The Croods is one of my daughter’s favorite animated movies. I feel that it has a strong message about accepting change rather than fearing it. My daughter doesn’t always handle transition or changes well and I’ve used this movie as an example to not be afraid of new situations. First day of school is a huge milestone for kids. A new
classroom, classmates and a new teacher can cause a little anxiety but I’ve reminded her that kind of change is good.
A sleep over was a BIG milestone for my family. I think I needed more preparation for this one than my daughter did. My daughter has had three sleep-overs that were a success. Sure there was little sleep but I didn’t get a call to pick her up because she was scared. Phew! Sleep-overs are so much fun and we hope to plan our own slumber party soon where the girls can watch First Sleepover: Bratz Kidz: Sleep-over Adventure!
My daughter was only a couple of months old when we went out trick-or-treating! She was dressed as the cutest pumpkin ever and I have to admit it was the adults chance to snag some Halloween sweets since she was too young to have any. SCORE! She’s still sharing her treats with us and now she likes to watch First Trick-or-Treat: Jake and the Never Land Pirates: S02E15, Tricks, Treats and Treasure while she battens down the hatches for a sweet adventure!
My daughter’s friends are losing their first, second, third teeth. This is a milestone that my daughter has yet to reach and she’s asking when it will be her turn! Until then, Losing Your First Tooth: Super WHY: S01E10, The Story of the Tooth Fairy will give her hope that she will indeed meet the tooth fairy when the time is right.
Yo Gabba Gabba was my daughter’s first concert! We were obsessed with the show when she was a toddler. I’m not sure that she’s ready for a stadium show yet but she can live vicariously through Taylor Swift: The Journey to Fearless for a glimpse of what it takes to succeed as a young talented artist!
Netflix has suggestions for us parents too because kids can’t have ALL the fun! Check out episodes of The Office to celebrate a new job or if you’re having a baby you must watch What to Expect When You’re Expecting. It’s hysterical and relatable!
