*well, at least predicted by us.
If there’s one thing that fits together as perfectly as peanut butter and jelly, it’s Derek Zoolander and Instagram. Not only has the male model sneak previewed trailers for his highly anticipated sequel, ZOOLANDER 2, there, he’s also shown us art (like the kind on display at Los Angeles’ Gallery 1988), his perfume campaign and special casting announcements like Emilio below.
Today he debuted his February issue Vogue cover and boy does it look really, really, really, really ridiculously good. Kudos to world-renowned photographer Annie Lebowitz for her stellar work. Posing with frequent Vogue cover girl, his co-star Penélope Cruz, Zoolander (Ben Stiller) gives us his best blue steel.
Hmmm… We wonder if any of his fragrance ads** are enclosed in the fashion mag.
The second chapter in Zoolander’s illustrious life begins on reflective note when he, and bestie Hansel (“He’s so hot right now,” Owen Wilson) realize they’ve fallen out of fashion. With their careers in tatters, the guys “answer the call” to assist Interpol (Cruz) in uncovering who is killing off the world’s most beautiful people (Justin Beiber, Demi Lovato, Usher and Miley Cyrus). Why would such a prestigious organization ask for their help? Because all of these people have died with Zoolander’s signature look on their faces. Could it be Mugatu’s (Will Ferrell) doing? Or is someone more sinister at the hands of these atrocities?
Anyways, this is all great marketing for an action-comedy we simply can’t wait to put into our eyeballs.
ZOOLANDER opens on February 12.
**No. 2 fragrance is not really a product – only a product of movie marketing fantasy.
