Last week, I headed to Disney World in Orlando as part of a press trip to be part of the Zootopia Global press junket before it hits theaters on March 4th. Let me tell you, I have DREAMED of going to Disney World ever since I was a little girl. Well, not only did I go to Disney World, but I got to stay at one of the many on site properties: Animal Kingdom Lodge.
There are so many conveniences that come with staying on a Disney property that you can experience even as soon as you leave the airport. When you stay at a Disney property, you can make a reservation with Disney’s Magical Express and they will shuttle you to and from the airport. If you checked any luggage, no worries, they take care of that too! All so that when you enter your room, everything is ready for you to enjoy. Plus, when you stay at a Disney property you get to enjoy Disney World a little earlier than others with Disney’s Magic Hour. Each changes daily, but a whole hour to experience a park with no lines is something EVERY parent has to experience.
Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is so much more than a hotel, it is an EXPERIENCE in and of itself. The above photo is the lobby view, and if that doesn’t scream magic, then I don’t know what will. From the second you enter you are instantly transported to another world. The ambiance is definitely African Safari inspired…complete with wildlife roaming around throughout the property.
The rooms are all spacious and exactly what a family would want, and need, during a magical vacation. My room was a Savanna view with with two queen beds. The beds were SO ridiculously comfortable, that I swear I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow each night. There was also a TV, nightstand, coffee maker (YES), iron and more in the room. The ambiance continued right down to the tiny details in the bathroom. It’s the little things that really complete the magical journey at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Oh, and there’s also a balcony with a small table in each room. Perfect way to decompress after a long, fun day at one of the parks. I enjoyed some tea in the evening, while watching a few animals graze before heading in for the night. So relaxing and so cool!
There’s also plenty of restaurants to enjoy, from the quick service dining at The Mara, to the a fine dining experience at Jiko, and evening themed dining offerings at Boma and Sanaa, your tastebuds will tingle at the pixie dust sprinkled on this dining adventure.
Now let’s say you and the kids just need a day to lounge in between park visits. You can definitely do that here with pools, hot tubs, arcade rooms, clubhouses and a play area.
Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is simply incredible. Top notch hotel, amenities, dining and being surrounded by beautiful wildlife just minutes from the homes of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and more? Priceless. Staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is just the vacation you and your family have been dreaming of.
Zootopia opens March 4th and is rated PG.
