I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of DiMe Media for the TB Blood Test. However, all opinions are my own.
I was always told that when my baby was born, my life would change and boy, did it. But, the day I took her for her very first check up, she was only 3 days old, that was when I suddenly realized I was responsible for keeping this little life healthy and thriving. That meant everything from feeding, to playing, to shot records and more. When she started kindergarten, it was time to add additional shots and a TB test to make sure she was safe and ready for school.
Getting the TB test before school is super important because TB is a serious disease that kills about 1.5 million people each year worldwide. Kids are most at risk because active TB is mainly transmitted through the air by a process known as droplet infection. The bacteria are spread through the air by an infected person sneezing, coughing or speaking, and then nearby people inhaling the droplets. So, we have a pretty busy family schedule, and getting an appointment to get everything in took weeks of planning but I knew it was necessary for my daughter’s health. Then, after the test was done they told me I had to come back in exactly 48 hrs to get her TB test checked and get the all clear signature…well, that took even more planning and it isn’t exactly 100% accurate.
There is a TB blood test that can help diagnose tuberculosis (TB) infection that is a major scientific advance over the 110-year-old skin test, giving greater accuracy and a more reliable result. Study results suggest that the TB blood test is more reliable than the traditional skin test for identifying individuals with latent TB who will soon progress to active TB, especially in children. I want the best for my daughter, and that means making sure her health care is up to date and will help prevented illnesses like TB from infecting her.
In contrast to the TB skin test, the TB blood test allows you to get accurate results in just one visit leading to meaningful benefits – more ease, more time, more certainty. That means, I breathe easier knowing she has the most up to date test to make sure she is clear of TB. It not only protects her, but children around her, like my nephews, her cousins and classmates because early detection can help stop the spread of diseases like TB.
Getting the TB blood test is an easy way to keep our children safe, with accurate results and modern day convenience. Have you or your children been tested recently?
