Hollywood red carpet premieres are possibly one of the greatest things about living in this town. The glitz, the glamour, the parties….oh and the 100+ degree heat as you try to look “cool.” This red carpet, heat aside, was extra awesome because it was a world premiere of Steven Spielberg’s first ever Disney movie, The BFG. As a guest of Disney, I was invited along with 24 other bloggers to experience this carpet and if you have been following me for awhile, you know, this isn’t my first rodeo, but it was my very first with Steven as the main guest of honor. So my goal? Spielberg selfie.
And our evening began with a cool hotel lobby, smiles and excitement…
I grabbed a dress that I already owned that was perfect for the heat and the summer chic look we all wanted to sport. Plus, I kinda matched the banner.
When our group hit the carpet, it was a bit early, since we were first heading into the pre-party which was at the Hard Rock across from the theater. So, it was a bit empty which meant plenty of photo opps.
The sun was pretty brutal, so after the photo fun, we ducked into the party, where…Steven Spielberg and Mark Rylance were. Spielberg was chatting away on the upper level, and Mark was walking about were we were. Having interviewed him earlier, he recognized us and was happy to take a photo.
Once we cooled off, we were ready to go see the carpet again…this time, it was all abuzz with action.
..and Spielberg worked his way down the press line…
…and we worked a few cast selfies in
…and we got to see how the cast interacted with fans who sat there for HOURS in that crazy heat. Still they cheered every chance they got. That’s some dedication!
Then, in a rush, security was escorting us into the theater and it was time to grab our popcorn, drinks and take a seat to watch the World Premiere of The BFG!
It was my 3rd time, and still I saw something new….and I will share my review soon. So, did I get a Spielberg selfie? No, but I did get the memory of sharing the red carpet experience with him (he walked past me) and with some pretty wonderful friends.
Now those memories are priceless.
The BFG opens July 1st.
