This is a sponsored post, however, all thoughts are my own.
When my daughter started school in 2012, I had an idea that schools provided everything you may need. I mean, growing up, I basically just had to bring a pencil and my favorite binder with me and that was it. Sadly, as I found out quickly, that is not the case today. It is estimated that 99.5 percent of all public school teachers use their own money to equip their classrooms which can total over $400 a year. Ever since then, I have tried to help in any way that I can and I love when I see people I love join in helping students. Someone like Katy Perry!
Staples and Katy Perry have teamed up to inspire the public to help classrooms in need by making a donation in Staples stores or online.
As a long time Katy Perry fan, I am pretty excited about this, and as a parent of a school age child, I am over the moon that such a great brand, that I have trusted for years, is making an effort to give all kids what they need to ensure a proper education. The partnership is inspired by Staples long-standing commitment to supporting education and helping teachers bring learning to life for their students, which is something I fully stand behind. I would rather my daughter’s teachers concentrate on teaching than worrying about buying supplies.
It’s something Katy Perry acknowledges in a PSA released for the #StaplesForStudents partnership that highlights DonorsChoose.org
“When I teamed up with Staples in 2014, I learned firsthand how desperately teachers need our support,” says Perry. “Many of them even dig into their own pockets to provide simple tools that we would expect to already be available in our classrooms. So when Staples approached me again this year, I jumped at the opportunity because I saw the lasting effect our collaboration had on DonorsChoose.org and thousands of teachers and students.”
DonorsChoose.org is a charity that has funded more than 700,000 classroom projects for teachers and has positively affected more than 18 million students across the country – and encourages viewers to make their own donations by visiting a local Staples store or StaplesForStudents.org.
And thanks to Staples, with contributions from customers in store and online, they have donated over 1 million dollars to various projects from DonorsChoose.org that will be funded just in time for back-to-season! INCREDIBLE!
