I remember being 11 years old, and taking 5 hour road trips with my family. My mami in the passenger seat, my stepfather driving, and me in the back with my two younger siblings. I hated it. Absolutely hated being cramped with my two younger (annoying) siblings, while my stepdad listened to his 80s easy listening station, and sweating as we had no air conditioning and my mom only opening the window some, so my younger brother wouldn’t be tempted to stick his head out the window. Then… the fighting. My sister and brother would go at it, while I tried to shut them out with my walkman, only to be yelled at for not “watching” them. Those road trips made me determined to never ever put my family through the crazyness. Until, you know, I had my own family and fell in love with road trips.
The secret to loving traveling with the family by car? COMFORT. Which we achieved by driving the 2017 Toyota Sienna.
The one road trip I was determined to make over the holidays was taking the kids to check out one of the best displays of Christmas lights near Los Angeles. It was a bit of a drive, but I grabbed 2 blu-rays, and put them on for the kids. Oh yea, the Toyota Sienna? Totally equipped with a DVD/BluRay player for the back seat (and there’s 2 rows, one you can put down to make your own theatre!)
They were happy, quiet and absolutely loved watching one of their faves in the back seat of the Sienna. I swear, they felt like it was their mini-theatre on wheels. This made all the drive SO WORTH IT. Plus I mean, how can you not enjoy a road trip when every comfort is in the car itself.
Truthfully, I never would have thought to buy a Toyota Sienna. I am not a soccer mom, and I only have 1 child. But I do have a large family. And we like road trips, and my husband is 6’3. To make sure the entire family is comfortable, this is the ideal pick. It’s roomy, perfect for transporting people and things, plus it is such a smooth drive. I’m only 5’2, and not once did it feel “too big” for me. In fact- all I wanted to do was drive it everywhere!
And the kids? Well, we did get to our destination with zero fights. So I got one very happy picture of my daughter and our nephews.
You can’t tell they had just been in a car for over 2 hrs can you?
That’s what makes the Toyota Sienna special. Those memories of my road trips when I was a kid won’t be those of my daughter, because we did it the right way… by taking our holiday trip with the Toyota Sienna.
Thanks to Toyota for lending us the Toyota Sienna to create our holiday road trip memories! #VayamosJuntos #LetsGoPlaces
