Flu, FOMO and Killing Germs with Clorox

02/09/2017 by Yolanda Machado

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Clorox. All thoughts are my own.

Everyone has a busy holiday season. In fact, now that it’s over, many of us are still recovering…and have colds, flus and more to show for all the fun. My family and I definitely went through the wringer these past couple months. Let me tell you, the stress alone from dealing with holidays, medical emergencies and having kids at home for almost a month…well, I got ridiculously sick and ended up missing getting back to work, and back to being “me”. The worst was I had two events I was looking forward to, a chance to actually get back to being myself and having fun, and instead, I had to look at the pics on instagram while wondering what I could have done to prevent getting sick to miss out.

Being sick isn’t fun, but missing something because you are sick is the worst. It’s FluFOMO, the fear of missing out because you or your family are sick. I lived through it and now, thanks to my partnership with Clorox, I have a plan intact to stay germ-free throughout cold and flu season, and beyond, using Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.

Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes help kill germs and bacteria, and remove kitchen grease and countless other nasties you find lurking in your home. Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes help kill 99.9% of germs that can live on surfaces for up to 48 hours, as well as 99.9% of viruses* and bacteria – plus Staph, E. Coli, salmonella and strep.

This year, Clorox® is partnering with Sickweather to help prevent FluFOMO. Sickweather allows you to report illnesses and tracks social networks for indicators of illness. Download Sickweather so that you can see how severe the cold and flu season is in your local area and help avoid illness, including FluFOMO. You can join Sickweather Groups to share or check symptoms associated with a specific location, like your kids’ schools or your office.

The first step in flu prevention is a flu shot. The CDC also recommends cleaning and disinfecting frequently-touched surfaces with an EPA-registered disinfectant, like Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, especially when someone is ill.

I won’t be going through the stress of this past holiday season again thanks to Clorox!. I’ll be checking Sickweather to track illness and share Sympathy and Clorox products.

Visit Clorox.com for additional tips and products that can help you fight the spread of germs this year. How do you keep your home germ free?
