In Hollywood, films that are directed by women are few and far between, sadly. Much less directed, written and starring women, yet, the young adult book sensation turned movie, Before I Fall, is exactly that. Zoey Deutch stars as Samantha Kingston, a high school girl who is relieving the worst day of her life…the day she dies.
We got a chance to sit down with Zoey to chat about the making of the movie, her character and how she hopes other young women relate to the film and it’s characters.
Zoey was a delight to talk to and when she shared she was bullied once, I did all I could to stop myself from hugging her. Girl world is hard… it was hard when I was in it, and I know I have got to prep my own daughter for it. Talking to young women like Zoey, gives me hope though, and in a way, the film’s message really shines through. You can make a difference in someone’s life.
Before I Fall opens March 3.
