When Pixar announced they were creating a film named “Coco” with a Dia de los Muertos theme…I was so excited! I am half Mexican, and celebrating Dia de los Muertos with my little family has been a tradition since my daughter was about 4 years old, so that we could both learn and connect with our Mexican heritage. I was thrilled that Pixar was creating something that featured this piece of my culture and all it’s beauty. But, nothing can top how I felt when I received an invite to head up to Pixar and participate in an early press day with the directors, creators and animators for the film. Of course, my answer was a HELL YES, but I am bringing you guys with me because you can follow all the adventure too!
Yes! Starting this Wednesday, August 2nd through August 4th, on Twitter and Instagram, just follow the hashtag: #PixarCocoEvent and get an insider look at the making of the upcoming film! We’ll be interviewing Lee Unkrich (co-director), Adrian Molina (co-director & writer), Darla K. Anderson (producer) and more!
But that’s not all! While in San Francisco, we’ll also be checking out the Walt Disney Family Museum. I got a chance to check out this amazing museum during one of my last trips to Pixar, and trust me, it is something you want to check out if you are ever in the area.
Make sure you tune into my Instagram stories, as I will be sharing the majority of my trip on there…and if you have any questions for the Pixar Coco team- make sure to tweet me at @SassyMamainLA with the hashtag #PixarCocoEvent, and I may ask the animators your question!
Coco opens November 22, 2017
