Thor: Ragnarok is not the Thor you knew before- he’s better. Truth be told, the gorgeous Avenger is not my favorite in the MCU. The prior Thor films were fine and all, but Thor had no life to him. Enter: director Taika Waititi.
Waititi takes the God of Thunder, gives him a haircut, but adds a personality, humor, and breathes a new life into his story- and creates the most entertaining MCU film to date. Thor: Ragnarok is what you hope all movies are: fun. Isn’t that why we go to watch movies? To have fun, and escape reality once in awhile? Well, happy to report that Ragnarok definitely does that, and it’s great for all ages too.
I had a chance to attend the red carpet premiere in Hollywood, and brought my 6 yr old nephew with me as my date.
Now you know you gotta be good to keep a 6 yr old’s attention. My nephew absolutely LOVED the movie. He laughed, cheered and told me it was his new favorite movie. I mean, just look at how happy he looks:
I don’t want to give away too much about the story, but let me just say, yes, this is Thor’s movie but the real MVP’s are Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Hela (Cate Blanchett). They give Thor multiple personalities to play to, which opens him up and allows him to evolve to the God he was meant to be. And can we please get Hollywood to give Jeff Goldblum a role in like, everything? The eccentricity he brings to the ‘Grandmaster’ is top shelf.
It’s not my favorite MCU film to date (that honor goes to Captain America: Civil War), but it’s the most fun to watch and the cast is by far one of my favorite groupings yet.
Ragnarok is the perfect film to see with friends, or with your family, and both will love it just as much as you do. I did!
Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3rd.
